Lance J. Aizen — Chief Executive Officer and Managing Owner
Mr. Aizen is American Health Care's Chief Executive Officer, the managing owner, a board member and an entrepreneurial leader recognized for his expertise in pharmacy benefit management (PBM), disease management innovation and hospital 340B drug programs. As a thought leader in PBM and health care technology application, Mr. Aizen has conceptualized and led the design of distinctive and industry changing disease management programs, pharmacy benefit products and 340B federal drug program technology. Under his leadership, American Health Care has experienced significant growth, transforming into a nationally recognized leader in patient focused pharmacy benefits, health management programs and 340B hospital drug programs with expansion to 46 states from 7 in 2009 and to hundreds of hospitals and health centers from 4 in 2009. His client focused strategy has created an optimal infrastructure to support continued expansion through targeted and substantial investments in Client Services, Clinical Services and Technology.
Prior to American Health Care and as an owner and Chief Operating Officer of SUNRx, Inc., Mr. Aizen led the transformation of a start up PBM company to a national leader in the industry's movement towards transparency, with SUNRx being recognized as one of the fastest growing companies by Entrepreneur Magazine, Inc. 500 and the Philadelphia Business Journal for two consecutive years under Mr. Aizen's leadership. Mr. Aizen also founded Pharmacy Software Technologies, Inc., a pharmacy benefits technology services company and Pharmacy Pass, a company focused on consumer discounted health benefits. Other leadership positions include serving as a corporate officer of Rite Aid Corporation and Vice President of its PBM; EVP, Envision Pharmaceutical Services; US Corporate Controller, Ranbaxy Pharmaceuticals, and; Managing Director, J&E Partners (investment bank) and CEO of a J&E Partners' portfolio company. Mr. Aizen spent the first six years of his career with the international consulting firm PriceWaterhouseCoopers. He received his CPA license (inactive) in 1989 from the State of Pennsylvania and a BS Degree in Business and Finance from Drexel University in 1986.
Christine Schaffer, Pharm.D., BCPS, CLS — Chief Clinical Officer
Dr. Christine Schaffer is the co-founder and Chief Clinical Officer of American Health Care, as well co-founder of the United American Pharmacy Network. She is the preceptor for the company’s pharmacy residency program, and developer of a proprietary software system that provides virtual medical records, currently in use by hospitals across the country. Dr. Schaffer is also the founder of Optimal Life. Under the Optimal Life banner, Dr. Schaffer is the author of five books and DVDs, and has appeared in numerous television, print and online publications. Since 2010, Optimal Life has helped those with chronic diseases learn how to gain control of their condition with easy-to-use educational guides. Dr. Schaffer received her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of the Pacific School of Pharmacy in Stockton, California, and was granted a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science from the University of Nevada, Reno. She is licensed by both the California and Nevada State Boards of Pharmacy. She is also a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist and a licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientist. Dr. Schaffer is affiliated with the American College of Managed Care Pharmacy, the American College of Clinical Pharmacy, the American Society of Health System Pharmacists and the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy. She proudly serves as a board member for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Northern California Inland Chapter.
Luke Szymanski – Senior Vice President of Sales & Account Management
Mr. Szymanski is responsible for the leadership and oversight of Sales and Account Management for our full portfolio of business offerings. Prior to joining American Health Care, Mr. Szymanski served as a Market Director at Humana, Sr. Vice President at Centene Corporation, the Central Division Pharmacy Practice Leader at Watson Wyatt (now Towers Watson), and a Senior Consultant for Aon Hewitt. While at Aon Hewitt, Mr. Szymanski’s primary role was business development, securing contracts with several Fortune 100 companies, including 3 of the Fortune top 10. He was instrumental in developing Aon Hewitt’s online PBM Request for Information (RFI) and online PBM bid platform. Mr. Szymanski was a primary contributor to Aon Hewitt’s PBM transparency development and auditing during his tenure there. His leadership at Centene helped propel them into a Fortune 500 organization with tremendous growth over a four-year period. Mr. Szymanski is passionate about business integrity, client satisfaction, retention, and growth.
Mr. Szymanski holds a bachelor’s degree from Loyola University of Chicago, and a Masters of Arts from Northeastern Illinois University. An outdoors enthusiast, he loves nature and enjoys taking his family camping on the weekends.
Claude K Lardinois, MD, FACP, FACE, MACN – Medical Director
Dr. Lardinois is the Medical Director for Disease Management at American Health Care. Dr. Lardinois is Emeritus Professor, Endocrinology Division, University of Nevada School of Medicine and Graduate Faculty for Nevada Studies in Nutrition at the University of Nevada, Reno, Nevada.
His research interests include work in nutrition, diabetes, hypertension, and dyslipidemia. He has a special interest in eradicating heart disease, the major cause of death in the United States. Dr. Lardinois is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP) and a Master of the American College of Nutrition (MACN) and a Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology (FACE). He is board certified in internal medicine, endocrinology and metabolism.
Douglas E. Hulsebus – Vice President of Client and Member Services
Mr. Hulsebus has over 25 years of health care experience in the Pharmacy Benefit Management, 340B Operations, Population Health Management, and Pharmaceutical Distribution and Sales Industries. His prior experience includes Management and Sales responsibilities with McKesson, Cardinal Health, AmeriSource and EnvisionRxOptions.
Mr. Hulsebus is responsible for overseeing American Health Care’s Client Service and Member Service departments. His responsibilities include oversight of new business transition, program implementation plan building/design, and account management, member and pharmacy services. He ensures outstanding service to Labor Markets, Medical Centers, Managed Care Organizations and Chain and Retail Pharmacies.
Mr. Hulsebus received his Bachelor Degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix.
Brian Katz – Senior Vice President of Finance
Mr. Katz has over 20 years of experience in both private industry and public accounting. His prior experience included the position of manager with the big four public accounting firm of Ernst & Young where he oversaw the audits and tax planning for public companies in the technology and medical device industries. Most recently, Brian served the positions of VP of Finance and Chief Financial Officer at the affiliated companies SASCO/ELECTEK/INVEST-U, where he was responsible for all aspects of accounting, treasury, reporting and investing for one of the largest privately held electrical contractors in the United States. Brian received a B.S. degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting from San Diego State University in 1992. He also received his CPA license (inactive) from the State of California in 1996 and the Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional designation in 2008.
Debra Schulte – Vice President of Information Technology
Ms. Schulte is the Vice President of Information Technology. Prior to joining American Health Care, Ms. Schulte served as Vice President at Rabobank N.A., where she managed the implementation of several key software applications responsible for overall bank financial reporting. She has extensive experience in Information Technology including systems and application oversight, product and application life cycle management, strategic planning, and program management. In addition, she has built and led successful teams at other large organizations, notably Sprint Communications and First Data Corporation where she directed large, complex IT projects and programs from definition to implementation.
Ms. Schulte holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from University of Phoenix.
